Hoisting machinery is a kind of equipment through the fetch device of hoisting, dropping or lifting and transporting materials by means of intermittent and repetitive.

In the process of work, because the work scope is bigger, there are more risk factors. Such as, when the construction elevator and lift transfer personnel and materials in the hoisting cage or bridge box, their safety depend on the validity and reliability of the hoisting rope and some safety devices.

The characteristics of the crane can be summarized as follows:
1.The hoisting machinery usually has a large metal structure and complex institutions, it can complete an up and down movement, one or several horizontal motion, so its technology is very difficult.
2.The lifting objects are diverse, so the load is changing, weigh up to hundreds of thousands of tons, length up to dozens of hundreds of meters, and the shape is irregular, all these make the lifting process complex.
3.Most of hoisting machinery need to operate in a wide range scope, sometimes it needs to furnish the rail, wheel, tire or caterpillar, also some need to walk on the steel wire rope(such as aerial rope way), large spaces, more dangerous surface.
4.There are many exposed and activity parts, and they often contact with the lifting operation personnel directly(such as hook, rope, etc.), so there are many accidental risk factors.
5.Complex working environment. Workplaces will have high temperature, high pressure, inflammable, explosive, transmission lines, strong magnetic and other risk factors, these all will pose a threat to personnel and equipment.

These dangerous factors decide that there are many injury accidents happening every year. According to the relevant statistics, hoisting machinery accident death toll in about 15% of all deaths because of work. In order to ensure the safety of the hoisting machinery operation, the state has put it as a special management of special equipment.
