Innovative Lifting Solution for Boiler Project in the Philippines

M&J Fabrication & Installation Company, a valued client of DQCRANES, approached the material handling experts for a unique solution in their boiler project in the Philippines. The challenge was to lift a substantial boiler drum with specific constraints – a double truss beam with a narrow 5-meter space. The client specified a lifting height of 30 meters, a hefty drum weighing around 50 tons, and a drum length of approximately 14 meters. Importantly, lateral movement was not a primary requirement.

Proposed Solution:
DQCRANES responded with an innovative approach. Their solution involved overlapping two H-shaped steels on both sides of the truss beam. Underneath these steels, two specially designed 45-ton electric hoists were suspended. The hoists, equipped with hooks and slings, were strategically positioned to lift the bottom of the drum. The use of H-shaped steel was critical, providing robust structural support during the entire lifting process.

Technical Specifications:

H-shaped Steel: Customized H800xW300mm, with a reinforced 40mm bottom plate for enhanced load-bearing capacity.
Electric Hoists: Two 45-ton electric hoists were chosen for the task to ensure a secure and stable lift. Although two 30-ton hoists could have met the theoretical requirements, the client opted for the higher capacity for an added layer of safety.
Hoist Design: The electric hoists, each exceeding 4 meters in length, were meticulously designed to fit within the limited 5-meter space between the truss beams.
Implementation:
DQCRANES engineers conducted precise calculations to ensure the structural integrity of the solution. The electric hoists, including hooks, pulleys, and motors, were manufactured to meet the project's specific demands. Careful packaging in plywood boxes was undertaken to safeguard the hoists during transit.

Testing and Shipment:
Before shipping, DQCRANES conducted rigorous testing to verify that the hoists met stringent performance standards. Subsequently, the electric hoists were securely packed into plywood boxes and transported in a 20'GP container to prevent any damage during transit.

Client Feedback:
M&J Fabrication & Installation Company, as a returning client, reiterated their trust in DQCRANES based on past successful collaborations. They commended DQCRANES for providing professional solutions that effectively addressed their unique lifting challenges. Despite the unconventional requirements, DQCRANES demonstrated expertise in delivering an innovative and efficient material handling solution.

Conclusion:
This case showcases DQCRANES' ability to tailor solutions for unconventional material handling challenges. The successful deployment of a 45-ton electric hoist for a boiler project in the Philippines underscores the trust and confidence that clients place in DQCRANES' expertise and dedication to delivering effective and innovative solutions.
