China's railway technology boost Sri Lanka economic development

In Sri Lanka, railways have a very important position in economic construction and people's life. However, the last nearly 90 years after the completion of last railway, Sri Lanka didn’t build any new railway. In August 2013, south railway project in Sri Lanka officially starts by the China national machinery import and export (group) co., LTD., this is also the first railway project that the Chinese enterprises contract in the form of general contracting in Sri Lanka.

As the 21st century Maritime Silk Road along the important country, south railway project in Sri Lanka play a positive role in further deepening the relations between the two countries and expanding bilateral trade. In recent years, many Chinese enterprises participated in Sri Lanka's infrastructure, mainly related to the highway, railway, airport and port, etc. These enterprises have made the very big contribution to Sri Lanka's traffic and economic development, especially in the technical level.
